Happy March!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Superbowl Party! We had a blast enjoying the new 75-inch TV, yummy food, raffle prizes, and good company.

Pacific Palisades Breakfast FIRE FUNDRAISER was a great success! Thank you to everyone that came out to help and or purchased breakfast and Mimosa’s, we raised $1025

Our 2nd annual chili cookoff was so much fun! The Roadhouse band was excellent! We had a packed house! Thank you to all the participants that came out with their chili. Congratulations to our chili cook-off Champion Silvia Bacolot!

Thank you to all our helpers and judges, we hope you enjoyed the day!

March Events:

  • Mrs. Ropers Romp! Come and knock on our door for our second annual Romp! 3:30-5:30pm in the Clubroom.
  • St. Paddy day Celebration: Saturday March 15 th 2-8pm Please join us for Corn beef and cabbage with red potatoes. This is an all-family event so please come out and lend a hand and stay for the fun! Live Band: The Clocks 2-7 pm
  • Welcome home Vietnam Veterans Dinner – Saturday March 29 th 3-7pm in the Hall. Tickets for $15, space is limited, no tickets will be sold at the door.
  • Post Blood Drive: Sunday March 30th 10-4pm in the Hall – Please come out and support our post and save a life. Frank Cook is our Blood Drive Coordinator, so if you see him, please sign up for a time slot, or use the American Red Cross Blood Donor app.

COMMANDER'S CALL Victor de la Rosa, Commander, American Legion Post 132 Greetings all: Thanks to everyone who came out to restage our 1930s photo in front of the Post! We had a great time. As I mentioned before, our Post will be hosting a luncheon for about 100 active-duty Sailors for Fleet Week. If you want to help or just come out and thank them for their service, it will be Thursday, May 22 from 12:00-1:00pm. For the Legionnaires we will have second nominations and elections for new officers at our general meeting. COMMANDER'S CALL Victor de la Rosa, Commander, American Legion Post 132 Greetings all: I'd like to thank Susie Flores and the Auxiliary for all the work they did for the Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Dinner on Saturday March 29th. It was a great turnout and made our Post shine. I'd also like to thank Frank Cook for all his work on the first of three Red Cross blood drives the Post is hosting this year. The first one took place March 30. We have two more blood drive on the schedule, so save the dates: Sunday, August 3, 2025 and Sunday, December 7, 2025 . Spring is upon us, and that means in April we will have first nominations for officers for our board. If you want to be involved, being on the board is a great way to help out. The Legionnaires general meeting will be on April 10 at 7PM.  On another note, Fleet Week will be coming to the City of Orange on Thursday, May 22. COMMANDER'S CALL John Schutz Commander, American Legion Post 132 Hello American Legion Family! I have started my tenure as commander with a misfortunate event at the post. We had a major plumbing issue that caused flooding in the club room, offices, and museum. Thankfully we had a lot of our members step up and we were able to reopen within 2 weeks.  Some of the floor damage required to replace underground pipes. The Financial Impact was: Plumbing repairs: $20,000 (contracted with a veteran-owned company owned by a Post member, who is providing the Post with a substantial discount) Water damage repairs (wood, paint, concrete, tiles): Approximately $4,500 This far exceeded the Post's available building repair budget. What will help us now would be for you to support/volunteer for some events we have coming up (our Casino Night August 16, a parking lot sale August 17, and the Orange International Street Fair August 29-31).
